Description
Z-Weather, the world’s first energy-automated Z-Wave sensor is a multifunctional sensor measuring different values and reporting to smart home center. The integrated power management ensures that there is always sufficient energy available to report emergency wind and twilight values. Therefore, the system can close protective blinds or retract awnings. If a skylight is open, residents can be alerted through notification and the roof window can then be closed automatically with the corresponding application.
Z-Weather is powered by a solar cell and stores energy on an internal capacitor, enabling continuous operation, even with few sun for a couple of days. It does not use any batteries and is completely maintenance free. The integrated power management ensures that there is always sufficient energy available to report emergency wind and twilight values. Therefore, the system can close protective blinds or retract awnings.
Z-Weather has a built-in energy manager that automatically calculates and sets the wake up interval between 5 minutes (on sunny days) and 1 – 2 hours on cloudy days or at the beginning of the day.
Additionally, the energy management feature protects you against full discharging and enables continous operation for reporting gusting wind, storm or dusk in case of an emergency.
Z-Weather is a multifunctional sensor that is able to capture and to send different values via Z-Wave to a Smart home Controller:
- Air temperature
- Relative humidity
- Light intensity
- Wind speed
- Air pressure
- Dew point
In addition, Z-Weather samples the energy delivered by the solar cell. The measurement is normalized to a solar cell of 1 square meter and reportedly 16% efficiency in kWh. To calculate the wind yield, every eighth rotation is counted and the total sum is reported as a Pulse.
With Z-Weather you can trigger the closing of awnings and blinds either by directly associated devices or scenes. It also measures the ambient light and the solar yield so that it can be used to turn on the outdoor light at dusk time and to turn it off in the morning.
Please notice: before you can configure and use Z-Weather, the unit needs to be fully charged by direct sunlight for 4-6 hours. Without direct sun light, charging may take 12 hours.
